Metro+state: Ex-Ferris State star Zach Redmond to Play in Hockey All-Star Classic
Former Ferris State standout Zach Redmond (Traverse City) will play in the American Hockey League All-Star Classic on Jan. 29-30 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.
Redmond is a member of the St. John’s IceCaps and is among 24 players representing the AHL Eastern Conference All-Star team.

MEN’S SWIMMING: Grand Valley State defeated Nova Southeastern, 128-76, this week in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. GVSU won the 200 medley relay (1 minute, 35.02 seconds) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:25.80). Other first-place finishes: Derek Mead in the 200 freestyle (1:44.42), Michael Griffith in the 50 free (21.40), Aaron Beebe in 200 IM (1:56.41), Beebe in the 100 butterfly (50.08), Milan Medo in the 100 free (46.87) and Raphael Santos in the 100 backstroke (50.66).
WOMEN’S SWIMMING: GVSU dominated host Nova Southeastern, 135-69, this week. The Lakers won the 200 medley relay (1:51.03) and the 200 free relay (1:39.56). Other top finishes: Carly Bush in the 1,000 freestyle (10:43.75), Sarah Kosmak in the 500 free (24.63), Lauren Dorsey in the 200 IM (2:16.08), Caitlyn Madsen in the 100 butterfly (59.20), Kosmak in the 100 free (53.17), Olivia Schultz in the 100 backstroke (1:01.65), Bush in the 500 free (5:16.30) and Dorsey in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.70).
