Matthew Werry

matthew-werryMatt Werry is primarily responsible for scouting and evaluating prospective clients from the New England area. Norton Sports also utilizes Matt for developing and maintaining client relationships. Matt comes to Norton Sports with an extensive hockey background. He concluded his four-year NCAA hockey career in 2008 as an Assistant Captain of the Holy Cross Crusaders.  He was part of the 2006 Atlantic Hockey Championship team, which advanced to the West Regional Final. Prior to joining Holy Cross, Matt played for the prestigious Notre Dame Hounds of the Saskatchewan Hockey League.

Matt’s own hockey experience is complimented by his family’s well-respected reputation in the hockey community. His grandfather, Lorne Davis, played for four of the original six NHL teams winning two Stanley Cups. During his 28 years as a scout for the Edmonton Oilers, he was partly responsible for putting together the Oilers dynasty that defined the 80’s, earning five more Stanley Cup rings. Matt’s uncle, Brad Davis, is currently a scout for the Edmonton Oilers working out of Waterloo, Ontario. Matt’s mother, Liane Davis, is a highly respected power skating instructor based in Regina, Saskatchewan. Her client list is comprised of players representing all 30 NHL teams.

Matt was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and is currently living in Boston, Massachusetts. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the College of the Holy Cross.
