LA Kings Dustin Brown Cheers “Adopt-a-Family” for Holiday Spirit
The Season of Sharing is a good time to become more personally involved in helping others. Team Captain Dustin Brown and many others from the LA Kings Club are strengthening the holiday spirit as part of the “Adopt-a-Family” program. This energizes the personal approach to giving back to the community by inviting a local family of modest means to join the LA Kings at home games at STAPLES Center and treating them like members of their own family This community program includes meeting after games and celebrating the season with good cheer.
Christmas is a special time of year for the “Adopt-A-Family” program because the supporters get to play a Santa’s helper and buy gifts for the entire family Like most athletes, Brown likes to plan ahead. He bought and wrapped the gifts before this fall’s hockey season. (Add this to your New years Resolutions list.
While many Angelenos will get some time off between Christmas and New Years, Brown and his teammates will be working hard in their quest for a Stanley Cup victory. Following tonight’s game against the Anaheim Ducks, the team will fly to San Jose for tomorrow’s game against the San Jose Sharks. Following the Lakers’ Season Opener on Christmas Day, the Kings will play against the Winnipeg Jets. Sports business pros will want to take a close look at the new logo designed for the Jets by Reebok, which has become the center of attention in the sports uniform trade.
This realities of rigorous schedules during the Holidays are an important reminder about the families who are part of the team community. Dustin Brown’s wife and three children will have to pack their family Christmas fun into two busy days. But a continuation of the Kings’ current winning streak would be a great consolation gift. Says Brown “It’s always more fun when you win.”
