Barch’s Agent Not Happy with 1-Game Suspension

Of course, Krys Barch’s agent Scott Norton is paid to support his client, so it’s no surprise that he was unhappy with the NHL’s one-game suspension for the inappropriate comment he made to P.K. Subban. However, he makes a good point which USA Today detailed in today’s paper.
I could call Norton up because he is very approachable but I don’t want to prolong this matter, so this is last blog on the subject.
While my source told me what Barch said Norton put it into better context for Kevin Allen of USA Today. When Barch yelled, “Hey, P.K. did you slip on a banana peel?” he was questioning Subban’s courage, not his ethnicity because he felt Subban went right down to the ice as soon as Erik Gudbranson touched him to avoid a fight with the husky 19-year-old. Norton felt the league should’ve put out a stronger statement in saying that Barch meant no racial intent and I agree.
Barch didn’t want to repeat what he said because other parts of the comment contained colorful language (putdown ranks that occur in every sport) that his grandmother wouldn’t want to see, and I respect that. Another player told me that linesman has cursed him out before.
I love some of my blogger’s theories that the league knew of Barch’s veiled threats (which I blogged last week) against Rangers toughie Mike Rupp for jumping Tomas Kopecky last week and pummeling him after Kopecky decked Mike Del Zotto for catching him with the butt end of his stick from behind, and that they wanted to prevent any ugly scenes last night.
Anyway, let’s move on to Joisey which I did after checking out of NYC hotel this morning.
